What is it about seeing a Tiffany style lamp that brings awe-inspiring looks from those who see them? The beauty and elegance? The craftsmanship? The colors? Probably all of the above.
The geometric designs included the Lotus Leaf Acorn Spider web Parasol Nautilus Seashell Indian Basket and Turtleback designs. These designs are very symmetrical and were some of Tiffany’s first work. Although a symmetrical design may seem a little boring Tiffany’s use of color and shapes made the lamps come alive.
You will also find that modern floor lamps come in Tiffany styles as well. If you are looking for a great lamp for a small space where you need some light then this is a wonderful choice. The Tiffany lamp name comes from its inventor Louis Comfort Tiffany who produced Tiffany lamps from the late 1880’s until 1930.
If you know that your lamp is setting on a table or desk that isn’t going to get jostled in the near future then you could safely go with a more decorative or lighter weight lamp. Also the ratio of the lamp’s size to the furnishing’s size does matter. Make sure that the furnishing on which the lamp is going to sit doesn’t detract from the lamp itself.
