This original play artfully depicts the challenges that individuals experiencing homelessness face on any given day. Dr. Nieves weaves the true stories of those who made Humboldt Park Social Services their home until they were able to achieve stable housing on their own. We invite you to participate in this powerful debut and learn more about the active role you can play in supporting stable homes which drive thriving communities.

  • Emergency Services

    • $1000 houses a family in transition for 1 whole month
    • $300 runs our kitchen for 1 day (144 meals)
    • $25 heats & lights a transitional apartment for 1 week
  • Prevention Services

    • $260 provides a holiday ham for 200 families
    • $150 transports food and furniture for 1 month
  • Supportive Services

    • $2125 houses our supportive center for 1 month
    • $475 houses our supportive center for 8 hours
  • In 2010, HPSS served:

    • 1,472 individuals, of which 39% were children.
    • 62% of clients that exited our Family Interim Housing Program moved into permanent housing.
    • 75% of employment program participants increased their skills through job readiness training and 34% increased their income through employment.
    • Our soup kitchen served over 24,094 meals!
    • 82% of clients at imminent risk of homelessness were stabilized and did not become homeless.
